The Tucson has recieved many reviews since its launch in July 2004.

Here are some media comments on the Tucson

James Foxall, News of the World 15/8/04

"It has the quality feel of one that costs a lot more than the £14,995 starting price for two-litre. I soon had the Tucson scrabbling up steep slopes and happily hurtling through water splashes."

Alan Kidd, Total Off-Road, Aug 2004

"The Tucson corners really rather well, the rear wheels kicking in seamlessly to keep it in shape and body roll remaining minimal." "On smoother surfaces it's a surprisngly quiet and well mannered 4x4, with only a little wind noise to disturb the peace." "The Tucson has the classiest image of any of the company's production vehicles." "The combination of low price, high spec and Hyundai's unmatched five year warranty makes it pretty much impossible to match in terms of value." "Excellent spec and cabin quality makes this Hyundai's best yet."

Auto Express 12/8/04

"When you try and cram in as much gear as possible you discover one of the Tucson's greatest strengths; the clever rear seat folding mechanism. It's similar to the Mercedes M-Class, in that you only have to pull a single lever and the whole unit falls totally flat." "Passengers will be happy because they get a lot of legroom." "The low pace ride is impressively absorbing and body roll surprisingly well contained." "The car is well equipped for the price. Standard spec gives a full set of airbags, leather trim, climate control and a CD." "Add in the five year warranty, and the Tucson makes a lot of sense."

John Kendall, Diesel Car, Sept 2004

"Viewed from the sides or the rear, it's a pleasing well balanced shape. "The cabin is not small; giving a spacious and comfortable feeling the moment you step aboard. There's plenty of room to carry four tall hat-wielding adults in comfort." "It looks good and is well screwed together."

Piers Ward, Auto Express 4/8/04

"The Tucson is a fine effort from Hyundai. With its long warranty, decent equipment and practicality, it's particularly good for the family orientated buyer."

Chas Hallett, Autocar 20/7/04

"The single most impressive thing about the Tucson is its attention to practicality and versatility. Turning the SUV into a load carrier is sweat free stuff; either side of the 60:40 split bench folds virtually flat in one motion, pivoting both the seat back and base." "Passengers aren't getting a bum deal either. There is enough space to luxuriate in even if you're relegated to the mid-riding rear position."

Haricharan Padmanabhan, June 18th 2005

"The Tucson is certainly a very good car. I had first asked two questions; the first was whether the diesel engine really gives it a considerable advantage over the CRV. It does, and this shows in the fuel economy figures. The handling characteristics are very good, and it manages to be a little better than the CRV here. So though on the whole the Tucson isn’t as good as the CRV, I am tempted to say that it is a very good and more economical alternative to Honda’s city SUV".
